Organic and Sustainable Coffees

Organic coffees are grown and processed completely free of pesticides herbicides, fungicides and other damaging chemicals. These coffees are rigorously monitored and must be certified by third party agencies that test the product to insure results. Jeremiah’s Pick has been offering organic coffees since 1996 and is certified by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) under the USDA regulations.

CCOF was founded in 1973 as a mutual assistance and certification organization for organic farmers and was one the first organizations to perform organic certification in North America. Today, CCOF maintains one of the most consumer recognized and trusted seals in the organic marketplace. CCOF remains one of the oldest and largest organic certification and trade associations in North America, with more than 1,400 members throughout the farm and processing community.

Organic Certifications

Some of the sustainable coffee certification programs that Jeremiah’s Pick is committed to supporting but in no way limited to are:

  • The Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal is a symbol that indicates quality and commitment to conservation and sustainability with an emphasis on comprehensive social and environmental standards as verified through on site audits that they conduct. You can learn more about them at www.rainforest-alliance.org.

  • Utz Kapeh is a worldwide certification program that sets the standard for responsible coffee production and sourcing and assures that coffee farmers and cooperatives grow their coffee professionally and with care for their local communities and the environment. Utz Kapeh, which means "good coffee" in a Mayan language, provides farmers with the knowledge that enables them to observe responsible agricultural practices as well as the understanding of the global coffee market. Learn more at www.utzkapeh.org.

  • Fair Trade is an innovative, market-based approach to sustainable development. Fair Trade helps family farmers in developing countries to gain direct access to international markets, as well as to develop the business capacity necessary to compete in the global marketplace. By learning how to market their own harvests, Fair Trade farmers are able to bootstrap their own businesses and receive a fair price for their products. Our company was one of the first coffee roasters in North America to be certified by the Fair Trade movement in 1999. For more information you can visit www.transfairusa.org.
